List of Manchester United players that could become free agents this summer

As many as 6 Man United players have their contracts expiring after the end of the 2021/22 season. Here we’ll look into what holds for their future.

Paul Pogba
Paul Pogba’s stay at Old Trafford finally seems to be coming to an end. Despite being reportedly offered a huge contract that will see him become United’s top-most earning player, the midfielder has shown no indication to sign a new deal.

Pogba has repeatedly wanted to leave United in recent years and it seems he’ll finally get through with it. He’s likely to leave for free in the summer, with a move to PSG seemingly on the cards.

Jesse Lingard
Jesse Lingard has lost his place in the Man United starting XI and only started 2 games so far this season. Like Pogba, he also doesn’t want to renew his deal with the Red Devils and wants to leave in the summer.

The Englishman is being used as a late substitute these days by Ralf Rangnick. It’s likely that he sees out this season with United, but his two-decade-long union with the club probably ends in June once his contract expires.

Edinson Cavani
Edinson Cavani has been convinced by Rangnick to opt against leaving United in January and will fulfill his contract with the Red Devils.

But with Cristiano Ronaldo now preferred over him up-front, El Matador is no longer guaranteed regular minutes at Old Trafford. He’ll move on from the club in June and look for ‘one last hurrah’ in his career somewhere else.

Juan Mata
Juan Mata only signed a one-year extension with United last summer after being promised that he’ll get regular minutes by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He’s had three total appearances this season, with a total of 151 minutes of football.

It's safe to say United won't hand him another extension. The Spaniard still has it in him to play regularly in Europe, so he’ll look to move on from United in the summer and probably return back to Spain.

Lee Grant
The only appearances Lee Grant received this season was in pre-season. He’s working more as a goalkeeper coach than an actual goalkeeper for United this season.

There’s no way his contract gets renewed, meaning he’ll leave once his current deal expires in June.

Tahith Chong
Tahith Chong’s season has been ruined by a nasty groin injury which he suffered on loan at Birmingham City back in October. He’s been out of action since and is unlikely to play any senior football this season.

While Chong’s deal does expire this summer, United have the right to extend it for another year. They’ll likely to exercise that option and give the new manager next season a chance to assess whether the Dutchman has a future at Old Trafford or not.
