Newcastle and Atletico Madrid agree on fee for Kieran Trippier

Kieran Trippier is just one step away from becoming the first signing for Newcastle's new ownership group.

The Magpies have agreed a transfer fee with Atletico Madrid, according to Sky Sports. The deal will be worth around £12m plus add-ons.

Now, the England international is set to travel to Newcastle to have his medical. Personal terms are not expected to be an issue, as the player has expressed a strong desire to return to England.

Newcastle are planning to make three further signings in the January transfer window as they are battling against relegation from the Premier League. They are currently 19th in the table, two points from safety.
