As reported by The Times journalist Paul Hirst, Manchester City midfielder Benjamin Mendy has been 'freed on bail' despite being accused of rape by seven different women.
Judge Patrick Thompson allowed Mendy to leave on bail after a hearing at Chester Crown Court, leading to shock among fans.
The 27-year-old, who spent the last 134 days in police custody, was arrested last August and is due to undergo a trial this year.
