5 players who could demand higher wages if Pogba earns £500,000-a-week

Manchester United have a number of high-profile players whose contracts expire next summer.

The Red Devils stand to lose at least three players on a free this summer, with Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard all expected to leave.

However, there have been reports of a new contract for Pogba, where he would earn £500,000-a-week.

If that happens, here are five players who could demand more wages.

Bruno Fernandes
Bruno is not a perfect player by any means and he has his faults on the field. He can be immensely emotional - but that's not necessarily bad.

From day one, Bruno has openly committed himself to the club and he's one of our most consistent and reliable players.

Since joining, he has scored 45 goals across competitions and provided 38 assists.

Be it creating chances or scoring goals, the midfielder can do it all. He recently received a new five-year deal but if Pogba receives £500,000-a-week, surely Bruno deserves more than £250,000-per-week?

Fred
Fred is probably the most humble and hardworking player in our current squad.

He defends like a beast and has also shown the ability to contribute with assists and goals while going forward.

He's nailed his spot under Ralf Rangnick and surely incoming manager Erik ten Hag would appreciate a workhorse like Fred.

The Brazilian reportedly earns £120,000 weekly, which is far below what Pogba could get.

Victor Lindelof
Say what you want about Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane but Victor Lindelof has been a consistent presence for us at the back for years now.

His performances often go under the radar but on more occasions than one, Lindelof has performed better than Maguire and even saved him from embarrassing situations.

In 2017/18, he played 17 times in the Premier League but every season since then, he's played over 25 times, which shows our reliance on him.

Like Fred, Lindelof too earns weekly wages of £120,000 but has proven to be a solid option when needed.

Luke Shaw
Shaw's form can be patchy at times but he's our undisputed choice for left-back right now.

He's been at the club longer than most of the current players and is far more experienced in the Premier League.

Shaw is in line for a new deal at United - why would he stop himself from demanding excessive wages when Pogba gets half a million pounds for simply showing up?

David De Gea
And finally, perhaps no one deserves a pay rise more than De Gea.

He's been our No.1 for over a decade now and rightfully so. The Spaniard is probably the reason why we kept some clean sheets this season.

With a defence line led by Maguire, De Gea has to often pull out some mad saves to spare us blushes, which he does frequently.

He already earns £350,000-per-week but simply based on his commitment, experience and contributions alone, De Gea could demand a lot more.
