"I spoke with Xavi, with Busquets, with Dani [Alves] and in the national team with Luis [Suarez]. It was clear for me to stay, but when you have more opinions it's better," Ronald Araujo said.
"I received offers, but my idea was to continue at Barcelona. We quickly reached an agreement.
"We worked hard to be here, to get to Europe, and when they told me I could come to Barcelona, you don't know how happy I was and now, feeling important as I do, I never doubted it, I was always clear to continue here."
Araujo's new contract is for three more years at Barcelona.
The player was attracting interests from clubs outside Spain before deciding to commit to Barca.
