'I made seven changes!': Klopp not too concerned with defensive mistakes after 3-3 Benfica draw

Jurgen Klopp assessed Liverpool's performance against Benfica as he told BT Sports after the game: "Both games have been hard work. We won all our away games in the Champions League but drew one and lost one at home which is strange! It's absolutely fine, that's just the situation we are in. I made seven changes!

"For the majority of the game, it was really good. But we lost a bit of concentration when it went to 3-1.

"I made seven changes and I decided only yesterday for the last line to play together, they had 20 minutes to put it together. I liked it for the most part. Playing the opponent offside didn't work so well tonight and that's my fault.

"Benfica deserved the three goals, that's how it is. Of course, we could have scored more. After 3-1 everyone, me included, thought that's it. And Benfica thought 'let's give it a try'."

The Reds seemed to be in total control of the game at 3-1 up but the high line was broken down too easily as Benfica scored two goals in the space of nine minutes.

They also had two goals disallowed (rightfully so) for offside. With no Virgil van Dijk, perhaps some complacency is to be expected. We're sure it won't be so easy to break down the defence again in the FA Cup semi-final this weekend.
