Samuel Umtiti accepted a pay-cut to extend his Barcelona contract until the summer of 2026.
The club acknowledges this as a gesture of good faith and will help the player find a new club at the end of this season, Sport say.
Xavi has made it clear to the Blaugrana bigwigs that Umtiti has no place in his squad going forward.
Thus, Barcelona will market Umtiti around France hoping that they get an offer from a Ligue 1 club for his signature.
Lyon is being mooted as the 28-year-old's next destination.
