Barcelona has confirmed that Eric Garcia has suffered a thumb injury.
The player is now set to undergo surgery to correct the problem.
A club statement reads: "Eric Garcia has injured his right thumb and requires surgery.
"Dr. Xavier will operation Friday] under the supervision of the FC Barcelona Medical Services.
"A new medical announcement will be made once the operation is complete".
