Chelsea hope to extend two players' contracts after takeover — not Kante

The Guardian report that Chelsea are planning to hand out new deals to Reece James and Mason Mount as soon as the takeover is complete.

The wing-back has three years left on his contract while the forward has two. Both players have been linked with an exit from the Bridge, considering the unstable situation the club is in.

Neither James nor Mount is tempted by leaving Chelsea. But the Blues want to give them new contracts as soon as possible because the club doesn't want them to 'feel undervalued'.

N'Golo Kante's contract is up in 2023. With Jorginho's deal expiring next summer as well, there is a risk Chelsea could lose both midfielders on free transfer.
