Chelsea Prioritize Central Defence Signing This Summer

Chelsea is concentrating on central defence as they await Todd Boehly's takeover to be completed.

The £4.25billion sale of Chelsea to a US consortium led by business mogul Boehly is required to be authorized by the UK Government in the next 24 hours.

The Telegraph says Chelsea is planning to move quickly in the transfer window once the club to given the green light to continue business, with Jules Kounde (Sevilla) and Josko Gvardiol (RB Leipzig) both near the top of their list of defensive targets.

Boss Thomas Tuchel has his work cut out for him this summer as he needs to replace Antonio Rudiger, who is heading to Real Madrid, and Andreas Christensen who is joining Barcelona. He may also have the exits of both Cesar Azpilcueta and Marcos Alonso to deal with.

Villarreal's Pau Torres and Atletico Madrid's Jose Gimenez are also among the top four targets on the eight-man shortlist according to the report.
