Dybala, Dembele & more: 10 free agents Man United could target this summer

The Sun has claimed that Man United are going to target the best free agents available as they want to help Erik ten Hag's rebuild even if the budget is limited.

Leaving the Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard joke aside, we take a look at who might be on the market in the next few months.

Paulo Dybala
The Juventus forward has been linked with Man United for ages. Even his agent claimed that there were talks between Paulo Dybala and the club - but it led to nothing.

Now, he is set to become a free agent and according to ESPN, United have already made inquiries about him.

The problem is that his form at Juventus declined after Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Turin and stole the limelight from him - it's unclear if he wants to join him at Old Trafford.

Ousmane Dembele
Another name that is permanent on the rumour mill, Ousmane Dembele might yet stay at Barcelona as they have offered him a contract extension. Nothing has been agreed yet, though.

Should the Frenchman leave Camp Nou, United could be high on the list of admirers. The player's injury history should come as a concern - as well as questions over his professionalism.

Andrea Belotti
The Euro 2020 winner with Italy leaves Torino after seven years. Andrea Belotti scored 113 goals for his club but is untested at a higher level - and he is already 29 years old.

United were linked with the Italian around five years ago. Nothing came out of it, and it will be a bit surprising if United circle back to Belotti this summer - but they do need a new striker, and he is a pure goalscorer.

Boubacar Kamara
One of the youngest players on this list, Boubacar Kamara is only 22 years old but has already been gathering rave reviews for his performances at Marseille.

Some mention him in the same breath as Aurelien Tchouameni as one of the most promising French defensive midfielders. He is an outstanding passer and is also not too shabby when it comes to defensive work.

United were seriously linked with Kamara last December, and he'll have no shortage of suitors this summer: Aston Villa, Juventus and Barcelona have all been mentioned.

With United's need to strengthen the midfield, this deal would make a lot of sense.

Noussair Mazraoui
This is probably the only player on the list whose next move is all but done. Bayern Munich are really close to signing Noussair Mazraoui from Ajax.

However, United could do much worse than try and hijack the deal. The 24-year-old is a right-back who has the Champions League experience and worked with Erik ten Hag for years. He might be a better fit for the new United side than either one of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot.

Alessio Romagnoli
Alessio Romagnoli's stock has fallen in the last couple of years. His niggling injuries and the ascent of Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu at AC Milan have limited his involvement to 16 starts in Serie A this campaign.

He is a left-footed centre-back in his prime who could pass out from the back, something that United have missed. This would make him a nice addition to the squad.

Christian Eriksen
After the dramatic events at Euro 2020, Christian Eriksen returned to the pitch this year and immediately transformed Brentford's fortunes.

The 30-year-old signed only a six-month contract with the Bees, but they are likely to be desperate to keep their most valuable player.

Man United have been frequently linked with the Dane in the past, and these rumours have reemerged recently. Should they give him another opportunity to play at a big club?

James Tarkowski
Would you be interested in a no-nonsense Mancunian centre-back who would not kick up a fuss if he is not a regular starter?

James Tarkowski might be your man: the 29-year-old leaves Burnley after six largely successful seasons.

He might not be the most cultured option - stats show that passing does not appear to be his strongest trait - but he definitely could do a job defensively.

Sean Longstaff
Remember him? Three years ago, Sean Longstaff was valued at ₤50m and on Man United's watchlist. Now, the 24-year-old might leave Newcastle for free.

He has a contract extension offer on the table, but United might steal him for free -- if they still need him.

Eddie Nketiah
A player we would not even mention a couple of weeks ago, Eddie Nketiah has blossomed lately for Arsenal. After getting a run of games, the 22-year-old has scored two braces in the last four matches, including one at Stamford Bridge.

He might not be a solution to United's problems up front on his own, but he could be a reasonably affordable punt in addition to another striker.
