Barcelona had their eyes on Rodrygo Goes long before Real Madrid were alerted of his talented, Sport report.
With Oscar Grau leading the delegation to Brazil, the Blaugrana pressed Santos in 2017 to sign a deal that will make them the only club who could sign Rodrygo when he turned 18.
However, Florentino Perez and Real Madrid swooped in and offered more money - which Barca just couldn't at the time.
They were willing to pay €20m immediately, and €20m in installments and bonuses.
So even though Santos would've loved Rodrygo to go to Barca, they had no choice but sell to the Whites who had more money to spend.
On Wednesday, Rodrygo showed his talent, as he came of the bench to bang in two goals and help Madrid defeat Man City 3-1 in the Champions League semi-final.
