Robert Lewandowski Confirms Intention To Leave Bayern Munich

Speaking after Bayern Munich’s final game of the season, Robert Lewandowski told Sky Sports: “I can confirm that I spoke with Hasan (Salihamidžić) and informed him that my decision had been made and I would not be extending my contract to FC Bayern.

“Both sides have to think about the future. We have to find the best solution for both sides.”

Lewandowski still has a year remaining on his contract with Bayern, as it expires in 2023. Salihamidzic has also commented on his situation but indicated that Bayern might play hardball with him.

The Bayern director of football said: “I spoke to Lewa. In the conversation, he told me that he did not want to accept our offer to extend the contract and that he would like to leave the club.

“He said that he would like to do something else. But our attitude hasn't changed. Lewa has a contract until June 30, 2023. That's a fact. I don't deal with that because our stance has always been clear.”

Barcelona is keen on signing the Polish forward in the summer but is unwilling to pay the €50m-€60m transfer fee the German club wants for him.
