Zambia coach Asanovic names AFCON Qualifiers squad

Chipolopolo coach Aljosa Asanovic has named his final 25-member squad for the back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations clashes against Ivory Coast and Comoros Islands.

Asanovic has named a blend of local and foreign players in the squad that heads to Ghana for a weeklong camp before trekking into Yamoussoukro on June 1.

Skipper Enock Mwepu, Leicester City forward Patson Daka and Scotland based Fashion Sakala and newbie Frankie Musonda have all been included in the squad.

Others are in-form Denmark based striker Edward Chilufya and South Africa based goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata, who is in the running for the PSL Goalkeeper of the Season Award.

Israel based Lameck Banda has already joined camp after the conclusion of the league in Israel.
Asanovic will however have to wait on the fate of Inter-Miami CF defender Aime Mabika whose naturalization process is still pending.

Mabika was born at Chawama Clinic in Lusaka on August 16, 1998, of Congolese parents.

Zambia will be away to Ivory Coast on June 3 before hosting Comoros four days later in a Group H fixture at National Heroes Stadium.
Tickets for the home match are already on sale at Shoprite outlets via Computicket.
The Chipolopolo are in Group H alongside Ivory Coast, Comoros and Lesotho.
