$450k water plant, $2.5m for cancer treatment: How Salah is transforming his village in Egypt

Mohamed Salah was the only athlete included in the Sunday Times Giving List for his charitable donations, ranking 8th on the list.

Africa Facts Zone have shared the details regarding his donations in his home village of Nagrig in Egypt.

Salah has built a hospital, school, youth centre and ambulance unit for his people in his village.

He built a $450,000 water treatment plant to provide drinking water for his people and the Liverpool forward also gives £3,500 to poor families monthly.

During the Covid crisis, Salah donated thousands of tons of food worth $500,000. He also donated £2.5 million for the treatment of cancer in Egypt in 2019.

That's not all - Salah also has an ambulance unit in the village which serves 30,000 people and he donated £50,000 to Tanta University Hospital, Egypt in order for them to acquire modern medical equipment.

You can see why he's considered to be such an icon in his village and country!
