Are Man United Repeating Mistakes Of The Past By Paying £65m For Frenkie De Jong?

Manchester United overspending to sign players who are not worth the money has become a tale as old as time.

Remember Alexis Sanchez (exorbitant wages) and Paul Pogba (not even a dime earned from the £89 million we paid)?

It's one pattern we hoped to break out of since Erik ten Hag took charge. However, given the strong links to Frenkie de Jong, who is estimated to cost over £65 million, it looks like United are repeating the mistakes of the past.

United look far from his top choice as he prefers to play in the Champions League next season.

Frenkie thrives only in certain set-ups - for example, he played some of his best football under Ronald Koeman at Barcelona and for the Dutch national team. But when asked to play out of his preferred position, as is the case under current boss Xavi.

So, should United just look elsewhere or continue to pursue the 25-year-old?
