The Blaugrana are wary about signing more veterans into their squad.
In place of the 34-year-old Argentine, Barcelona have made Raphinha their top priority if Dembele leaves.
The Brazilian is 25-year-old and is yet to reach his prime.
Raphinha will cost Barca up to €40m. on the one hand, Di Maria will arrive on a free transfer, although he may only play in Europe for one season.
