Liverpool have added one of European football’s hottest talents to their ranks with the acquisition of Darwin Núñez.
The 22-year-old scored 34 goals for Benfica last season, including two against the Reds in the Champions League quarter-final tie between the clubs.
An official release from the Portuguese side on Monday confirmed the initial fee will be €75m, rising to €100m with potential add-ons.

That means he is likely to become the club’s record signing, surpassing the £75m they paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk in 2018.
Núñez will fly in on Monday to complete his medical at the club’s training ground in Kirkby before putting pen to paper.
He follows in the footsteps of fellow countryman Luis Suárez, who scored 82 goals in 133 games for the Anfield outfit.
