Erik ten Hag was 'reluctant' to work with Ralf Rangnick is his consultancy role at Manchester United, according to ESPN FC.
The interim manager was actually denied a formal handover with the new boss following Ten Hag's official appointment last month.
Rangnick was expecting to meet the Dutchman face to face in Manchester 'for a detailed meeting' but the Dutchman 'opted to grant only a phone call'.
The German officially left the club by mutual agreement last month, sign a nondisclosure agreement as part of his Man United departure.
