The Dutchman has given 'private indication' to the move, it is explained.
Barcelona and Man United are yet to agree on the transfer fee. The Catalans want around €80m for the 25-year-old; the Red Devils are reluctant to pay this much straight away.
We consider the rumour important for two reasons: firstly, it is shared by a top source; secondly, it is the first confirmation of De Jong's acceptance to join the Premier League side.
