Mane Says Liverpool Exit Comments Were A Joke: 'I Respect The Club A Lot'

Sadio Mane says he did not expect his words about doing what 60-70 per cent of Senegalese fans want him to do, i.e. leave Liverpool, to make headlines the way they did.

"I spoke yesterday while joking with a bit of humour and it was everywhere," the forward said.

"I think we'll stop there. Liverpool is a club I respect a lot. The fans adopted me since day one.

"Regarding the future, we'll see."

Perhaps Sadio was ironic when he spoke about pleasing Senegalese fans but he certainly could have chosen his words better.

There are rumours that he looks to part ways with the Reds with Bayern Munich already in negotiations with the club over a transfer fee.
