Matthijs de Ligt becomes United's priority centre-back target

Man United have made Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt their priority centre-back target for the summer transfer window, claims Italian journalist Nico Schira.

Erik ten Hag loves working with him since their days together at Ajax and wants him in his project at Old Trafford.

De Ligt’s release clause at Juve is set to become active in the summer, with the amount rumored to be €125m.

The Serie A giants don’t want to sell him, but could end up losing him if any club triggers his release clause.

Now, while Schira is not a top source, he has some inside info on Italian football and Ten Hag’s relationship with De Ligt makes this interest genuine.

The Dutch defender recent addressed the links to United, insisting that the ‘sporting project’ of a club is important for him.
