According to Esport3, Barcelona will have to pay Gerard Pique €80m in deferred wages over the next two seasons. This is in accordance with the agreement he reached with the previous board.
Marca's reliable Luis F. Rojo reports that, for this reason, Barca would like the 35-year-old to leave this summer. This would make it easier for Barca to sign and register new players as they would get rid of his contract.
As per previous reports, Xavi has already told Pique that he will not be a regular starter next season and has recommended he leaves. The centre-back, however, is currently opposed to the idea.
In the 2021/22 season, Pique played 39 matches for Barca (36 starts) and scored three goals.
