UEFA planning new tournament in America involving Champions League winner

According to L'Equipe, UEFA want to introduce a new competition that will be played in the United States every August.

The mini-tournament is set to feature current Champions League winners as well as three other 'major European clubs', and could kick off in 2024.

The idea of the new competition is reportedly backed by UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin. It is is likely to have two semi-finals and a final.

The controversial proposal could face criticism from many UEFA clubs and players with the fixture list already congested as it is.
