3 wins, 2 losses: Summary of Chelsea's pre-season

Chelsea's pre-season is now over with the Blues set to take on Everton at Goodison Park on August 6.

Chelsea played five friendlies, with three in the United States of America and two in Italy. Let's take a look at those games in order.

1) Chelsea 2-1 Club America

A routine win for Chelsea as they dominated Club America for the most part, having 19 shot attempts with eight on target. Reece James scored an unfortunate own goal but aside from that, it was smooth sailing for the Blues.

2) Chelsea 1-1 Charlotte, Charlotte win on penalties

This was a closer game than expected as Charlotte managed to have 46% possession and were clinical in front of goal, scoring one goal out of three shots on target. Chelsea then lost their third penalty shootout in a row since last season as the bad luck on that front continued.

3) Chelsea 0-4 Arsenal

A terrible performance from the Blues as Arsenal utterly dominated every part of the game. Chelsea had just one shot on target with the Gunners having nine attempts on goal despite having lesser possession of the ball.

The silver lining was that Kalidou Koulibaly made his debut and had a decent game, showcasing glimpses of why he's considered one of the best defenders in the world.

4) Chelsea 3-1 Udinese

Chelsea had a lot more of the ball than Udinese and used it to their advantage in the first half, scoring twice - and that felt too few considering the number of chances they had. Sterling and Mount linked up well and Kante looked back to his best.

5) Chelsea 2-0 Udinese

The closed-doors training game saw the Blues dominate Udinese for the most part. Kovacic was the best player while Loftus-Cheek, Chilwell and Gallagher also looked good. It was a much-needed workout for the backup players and Tuchel will be happy with what he saw.

Overall record

Wins: 3

Losses: 2 (one on penalties)

Goals scored: 8

Goals conceded: 7
