Barcelona activate the second lever: 400 million euros

Barcelona's economic situation continues to improve, at least in the short term.

The Blaugrana have activated the second financial lever, selling 15 percent of their TV rights to Sixth Street for the next 25 years. The agreement means that 400 million euros will immediately be injected into the club's coffers.

While the deal could be announced as early as Thursday, an official announcement is expected no later than Friday according to Sport.

Barcelona previously sold 10 percent of their TV rights to the same American investment firm for around 200 million euros earlier this summer. This means that Sixth Street will own 25 percent of the Catalan club's TV rights for the next 25 years.

Oxygen for Barcelona's coffers
The deal means that Barcelona can breathe a sigh of relief when it comes to their finances. The club are still working on selling some of their players before the end of the summer transfer window in order to lower their wage bill.

However, in order to register players, Barcelona must still activate their third financial lever. The club are looking to sell part of Barca Studios in order to do that.

Their recent flurry of signings has raised quite a few eyebrows, with Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann unsure how it's possible.

"Barcelona are the only club in the world that has no money, but in the end buys any player they want," he said. "I don't know how they do it. It's a bit strange, a bit crazy."
