Manchester City's opening bid for Marc Cucurella has been swiftly rejected by Brighton, according to The Athletic.
The 2021/22 Premier League champions made an offer of just £30 million but Brighton are asking for at least £50 million.
Man City are looking to bolster their defensive options with back-up full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko on the verge of joining Arsenal.
Cucurella has established himself as one the best left-backs in the Premier League after just one season at Brighton, featuring in 39 games.
