Chelsea have reached a 'verbal agreement' for Chicago Fire goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina, an American international.
Slonina is 18 years old and is considered to be a top goalkeeper prospect. He recorded 11 clean sheets in 30 appearances since taking the starting role for Chicago in 2021.
Todd Boehly held direct talks with the Major League Soccer Club for Slonina, with the deal worth $10m plus add-ons.
Chelsea are expected to submit the official bid this week in order to get the deal done.
However, Slonina will stay on loan with Chicago for one season as he continues his development there.
Chelsea reportedly beat out Real Madrid to sign the talented player.
