Gareth Bale and Giorgio Chiellini make home LAFC debuts

The Mexican international got on the end of a José Cifuentes cross and volleyed it past the Sounders keeper in LAFC’s 2-0 win on Friday night.

Los Angeles Football Club extended their winning streak to four with a 2-1 win over the Seattle Sounders at the Banc of California stadium on Friday night to remain top of the Western Conference in Major League Soccer. The Black & Gold are the frontrunners to win the Supporters’ Shield this season and Carlos Vela is leading the team toward a push for the MLS Cup.

Vela scores winner
The Mexican international scored before the break for his seventh of the campaign in 20 appearances. Vela now has more goals for LAFC than any of his previous clubs and he brought a seven-game drought to an end against the Sounders.

Vela has now surpassed the number of goals he scored during seven years in La Liga with Real Sociedad and back in May, the 33-year-old became the third player in MLS history to reach 100 combined goals and assists having arrived at LAFC in 2018. This season the Mexico forward has been involved in 15 of the club’s 44 goals and helped LAFC to a seven-point advantage over second-placed Austin FC.

Bale and Chiellini made their home debut
The two new summer arrivals at LAFC, Gareth Bale and Giorgio Chiellini, made their home debuts at the Banc of California on Friday night.

The former Juventus player started the game for his third appearance of the season and was replaced in the 72nd minute. The Welshman, who has yet to start a game, came on the 63rd minute replacing Cristian Arango to make his home debut.
