'I don't want to touch the CB pairing that worked last year': Ancelotti sends warning to Antonio Rudiger

It appears that Antonio Rudiger could end up as a bench warmer at Real Madrid after joining the La Liga giants from Chelsea on a free transfer.

Speaking to the media after the friendly 1–0 defeat against Barcelona, Carlo Ancelotti said: "David Alaba will only in exceptional cases play as a left back. I don't want to touch the [centre-back] pairing that worked last year.

"I like Rudiger a lot. I am not crazy and he is very intelligent. He can play in that position [left-back], just as he can also change in the match with Alaba. They didn't do so today, because it went well."

Therefore, Ancelotti is planning to stick with the Alaba—Eder Militao pairing next season, leaving Rudiger at left-back or on the bench.
