Piers Morgan reveals message he’s sent to Cristiano Ronaldo to try and lure him to Arsenal for link-up with Gabriel Jesus amid reports he’d asked to leave Manchester United
Piers Morgan has revealed that he’s already sent a message to Cristiano Ronaldo in an attempt to lure him to sign for Arsenal this summer.
Ronaldo has reportedly asked Manchester United to let him leave this summer, if the right offer comes in.
According to The Times, Ronaldo has told the club of his wish to depart for Champions League football.
It’s claimed that rivals Chelsea and Bayern Munich have already discussed the possibility of signing the superstar forward.
United remain steadfast in their view that Ronaldo is not for sale, talkSPORT understands.
The 37-year-old is said to want to play in Europe’s premier club competition for the remainder of his career, which the Red Devils won’t be doing next season after finishing sixth in the Premier League.
Another side who won’t be playing in the Champions League next season are Arsenal.
Despite this, an optimistic Morgan has messaged CR7 – who he is friends with – to try and tempt him to north London.
Morgan previously interviewed Ronaldo and offered him an Arsenal shirt with his name and number on the back.
The talkTV presenter and famous Gunners fan reacted to the news by tweeting an image of him trying to lure Ronaldo with the caption: “It’s time @Cristiano #AFC.”
One commenter replied: “In your dreams Piers.”
To which Morgan said: “It is, but Cristiano likes breaking new ground in football and I just told him that God plus Jesus up front is an irresistible opportunity.”
Morgan is of course referencing Arsenal’s imminent new recruit Gabriel Jesus as a potential strike partner for Ronaldo.
