United 'expect' to complete Martinez deal imminently after successful talks with Ajax - Van der Sar's role revealed

Man United and Ajax are now expecting to complete the Lisandro Martinez transfer on Thursday, July 13 after holding successful talks, claims the reliable De Telegraaf.

The Red Devils’ executives had an hour-long meeting with the Dutch club’s representatives and agreed on closing a deal soon.

This has also been confirmed by tranfer guru Fabrizio Romano as well.

Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar played a major role in ensuring the successful talks, as he pushed the transfer in the right direction.

The Red Devils are ready to pay €55m (including bonuses) for the Argentine centre-back, something which is deemed accepted by the Dutch side.

United are hoping to totally finalizing a deal by the weekend, so that Martinez can be announced as a new player at the earliest possible.
