Bruno Lage claims Arsenal have not bid for Wolves winger Pedro Neto yet

Bruno Lage has claimed that Wolves are yet to receive a proposal from Arsenal for their forward Pedro Neto.

Reports have emerged in recent days that the Gunners are interested in signing the 22-year-old, who is believed to be valued at over £50m by his current employers.

Lage has admitted that he has heard about the rumoured interest in Neto, but has insisted that Arsenal have not made an approach for the Portugal international.

'I have heard that but nothing has come to us,' Lage told reporters on Tuesday evening when asked about Neto being linked with a move to Arsenal.

'It’s normal now, with the good players that we have. Teams are looking for good players in the same way we are looking for (Goncalo) Guedes, Matheus (Nunes), (Nathan) Collins. No one told me anything about any proposal.'

Neto has started all three of Wolves' Premier League matches this term, and has re-established himself as a key player at Molineux after missing the majority of last season with a serious knee injury.

He also came on as a second half substitute on Tuesday to help Wolves beat Preston 2-1 in the Carabao Cup to progress to the third round of the competition.

Neto has netted 11 goals in 96 appearances since joining Wolves in 2019, and has shown his versatility by playing off either wing and through the middle for Lage's side.

It seems likely that he would be in competition with Bukayo Saka for a place on the right wing if he does move to the Emirates before next week's deadline, particularly if Nicolas Pepe departs north London.

Pepe is yet to feature for Mikel Arteta's team this season, and was left out of the matchday squad for their victory against Bournemouth on Saturday.

He is expected to leave the club in the coming days, and has been linked with a proposed loan switch to Ligue 1 side Nice.
