Chelsea Ready To Give De Jong's Outstanding Wages Of €20m And Pay Him €14m Per Year

Chelsea are 'blazing all the guns' for Frenkie de Jong and are confident of convincing him to agree on personal terms, as per reliable Spanish source Diario Sport.

Barca is willing to pay €80m to Barcelona for his transfer and are confident of agreeing on a deal with the club too.

However, there's a catch - Barcelona still owes De Jong €20m in wages they had agreed to defer prior to this summer.

Moreover, he's the highest-paid player at the club, earning over €14m a year before bonuses, which was his salary before he took a pay cut last season (as per The Independent).

Chelsea reportedly agrees to pay De Jong his outstanding wages, relieving Barcelona of their problem.

They are also willing to match De Jong's salary and won't force him to take a pay cut. Chelsea requested Barcelona for permission to negotiate directly with De Jong and his entourage and has done so in the last few hours.

De Jong, however, is still very reluctant to leave and continues to tell Barcelona that his priority is to stay.
