'I'm eternally grateful to Xavi and Laporta': Dani Alves says there's no bad blood between him and Barca

Dani Alves says there's no bad blood between him and Barca

"Leaving Barcelona? I'm not upset, although I would have liked to have been told earlier, but even so, I'm eternally grateful to Xavi and Joan Laporta," Dani Alves has said.

"In my last month at Barcelona, I had the anxiety of knowing if they were going to renew me or not.

"I only had the opportunity to say 'hello', and not to say goodbye. I thank Barcelona that now I can say goodbye."

Dani will get the chance to say goodbye to the Barca fans on Sunday when Barca host his new club UNAM Pumas in the Joan Gamper Trophy.

Alves returned to Barca last season in order to help the club at one of the lowest points in their recent history. The Brazilian agreed to a minimal salary in order to accommodate his contract. At the end of the season, however, the Catalans decided against extending Dani's deal.
