Joe Cole names Liverpool among strongest Champions League contenders this season

"I still think Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Bayern Munich above them [Real Madrid]," former England winger Joe Cole said on BT Sport when speaking on the teams likely to win the Champions League this season.

"I still think those are the four teams more capable of winning next year’s Champions League, Cole insisted.

On not tipping current Champions Real Madrid, Cole said: "They won the Champions League and you have to give them massive credit, they’re absolutely world-class players with a world-class manager.

"But think about all the stars that had to align for them to do that."

Liverpool ended up as losing finalists in 2022 after a 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid last May.

Perhaps Jurgen Klopp's men can go one better this season.
