Reasons Why Barca Won't Sign Foyth -- Explained

Villarreal right-back Juan Foyth was seriously considered to be Sergino Dest's successor up until recently.

However, with only three days until the transfer window closes, it is highly unlikely that the player will join the Blaugrana squad. And here's why.

Economic reasons

According to Helena Condis of COPE, Barcelona see this move impossible due to economic reasons. The club are reportedly working on other options for the right-back position.

Auba still there

It was previously said that Barcelona could only sign Foyth if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaves the club in the coming days. As things stand, the Gabonese is still a Barca player.

Knee injury

The defender suffered a knee injury during the game against Getafe, he was subbed off early in the second half. The extent of the injury is not specified, but Xavi needs a fit player ready to deliver straight away.

Barcelona have had the talks with Thomas Meunier's representatives, says Mundo Deportivo's Gabriel Sans.

The Belgian is the alternative to Juan Foyth whose signing is considered too expensive.

Borussia Dortmund want €15m for the wing-back. Barcelona do not want to pay more than €10m.

The player is said to be strongly in favour of joining Blaugrana.

The 30-year-old has scored 3 goals and provided 7 assists in 62 appearances for the Bundesliga side.
