Cádiz welcome Barcelona to the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla for matchday 5 of LaLiga on Saturday.

Speaking to the ‘Tu diràs’ show on Rac1, Eric García spoke about the season so far and the Spanish defender knows he is not guaranteed a place in Xavi’s starting eleven.

“I don’t see it as a case of starters and substitutes. Until now we were playing one game a week but now it’s one every three days, so everyone has got to do their bit. Such competition is good for the team because it means you have to make the most of all the playing time you get and every chance that comes your way. If you don’t, there’s someone else behind you who will want to do it instead.”

Cádiz are currently rock bottom of the LaLiga table. Visitors Barcelona have picked up three wins and a draw from their opening four league games and are sitting just two points off rivals Real Madrid, who have a 100% win record this season.

Barcelona’s two new signings Héctor Bellerín and Marcos Alonso will be in the squad for the match against Cádiz. Xavi Hernández has already confirmed that he is counting on both of them for Saturday’s game, but he did not clarify what the roles of each would be.

Jules Koundé could be rested, so the centre-back pairing could be Gerard Piqué and Andreas Christensen, with the Champions League game in Munich in four days.

The 2022-23 LaLiga Matchday 5 fixture between Cádiz and Barcelona will kick off at 6.30 pm local time (CEST) at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla in Cádiz on Saturday 10 September 2022.
