Kevin de Bruyne can enter Premier League record books after blistering Manchester City start

The Belgian has been at the Etihad for seven years and his output has been staggeringly consistent in that time.

Last season saw him register a hugely impressive 15 Premier League goals in just 30 appearances, as well as chipping in with eight assists.

The year before he notched six goals and 12 assists. He has finished top of the latter chart three times in his City career. The stand-out season was the 2019-20 campaign when he racked up a whopping 20 assists.

That remains the competition's joint-highest tally for a single season. Thierry Henry also set that amount for Arsenal in the 2002-03 campaign.

This season many of the plaudits that have come City's way have been reserved for star striker Erling Haaland and while the Norwegian has taken to English football superbly, there is no doubting De Bruyne's superb delivery has played its part.

The 31-year-old already has six assists in just seven outings. He looks well on course to smash last season's top assist-maker, with Liverpool's Mo Salah registering 13 times.

It would be a brave person who bets against De Bruyne bettering that tally and at his current rate he could even threaten his own record of 20 in a single season.

His overally tally stands at 92 assists - level with former Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard. He is now just a couple away from entering the PL's all-time top five.

Arsenal's Dennis Bergkamp is fifth (94 assists), Frank Lampard is fourth (102), Wayne Rooney third (103) and Cesc Fabregas is second (111).

Way out in front is Ryan Giggs, with the former Manchester United winger having racked up a staggering 162 assists in his long Old Trafford career.
