Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes responds to doubts about Christian Eriksen partnership
Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes has admitted that playing with Christian Eriksen makes his game easier.
United signed Eriksen on a free transfer this summer after the midfielder impressed on a six-month loan with Brentford. Eriksen has made an excellent impression across his first few months in Manchester and he is now a key player for Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag has started Eriksen in all eight of United's fixtures in the Premier League and Europa League this season, which reflects his importance to the side, and he's excelled playing alongside Scott McTominay and Fernandes in a three-man midfield.
Although there were doubts that Eriksen and Fernandes would be able to play together in midfield, both players have quashed those concerns and that's something which the latter was keen to reflect on in a recent interview with club media.
Fernandes was asked about Ten Hag, while he also discussed his relationship with Eriksen, who he believes is a 'quality player'.
"We know that he [Ten Hag] has these ideas, he's strict on that, he's straightforward, so that's something good," Fernandes told United's in-house media. "It brings discipline to the team and we need that and even more when you play for a big team.
"Discipline is something that you really need. I think everyone is following that and we have to be all together in the momentum when it's good and when it's bad. It's about doing what he wants us to do.
"I think everyone has settled in really well, obviously the new signings have been playing. When you play, it's easier to get settled and you get time to know your teammates, to know the environment, the atmosphere and everything.
"That's really important, but more than that, they've been really good on the pitch. They have made a good impact, a positive impact on the team and we are really happy for all of them. Obviously everyone is expecting loads from them.
"We are there to support them and we will do it. They have the same role as everyone else, but they will get time to connect with the team, connect with the fans, connect with the history of the club and connect with what we have to do.
"It's really good to play with Christian [Eriksen]. He is a player who can find passes, that can find pockets and obviously make my game easier because he can find me when I move in between the lines. It's something that is not easy to do.
"He's a quality player and someone who has shown in the past that he has quality in the Premier League, the Italian league and even for his national team. It is always a pleasure to play with players like him."
