Reporters issue injury update on Araujo, he might need surgery

According to Mundo Deportivo, Ronald Araujo’s injury is quite serious - the defender is suspected to have torn his thigh adductor. It might require a surgery.

In fact, there are two ways of handling the recovery process. Araujo can undergo surgery that could go a long way in helping him recover from his knock. But with the FIFA World Cup just around the corner, surgery could see him miss out on the tournament.

Another option is a conservative treatment that does not involve surgery. This method is much faster, however, it does not guarantee that the player will return to full fitness.

Obviously, the player is yet to meet Barca medical staff in order to confirm the diagnosis and decide which way to go with the recovery.

Ronald Araujo is one of the key players in Xavi's squad - he featured in 7 out of 8 Barcelona's games this season, playing all 90 minutes in 6 of them. His prolonged absence could be a severe blow to the club.
