A report by international insurance brokers Howden has shown that Premier League teams suffered the highest injury count last season compared to any of Europe's top five leagues.
In total, there were 1,231 injuries recorded by teams in the Premier League. However, it was Chelsea who were the most impacted by injuries. The Blues suffered a staggering 97 injuries last season.
Premier League teams with the highest injury count in 2021/22 - top 3:
1. Chelsea - 97
2. Manchester United - 81
3. Liverpool - 80
Premier League teams spent an outrageous £184.57m on injured players.
Frequent injuries to players have been blamed on Herculean fixture schedules, with players expected to play high-intensity games nearly once every three days.
