Arsenal fans love how Xhaka made his teammates huddle as he gave instructions

Granit Xhaka has won the hearts of Arsenal fans after gathering his team-mates in a huddle after Thomas Partey's opening goal in Saturday's north London derby.

The Switzerland midfielder was quick to summon his fellow Gunners players in a show of leadership that has lead to many supporters suggesting he is the true leader in the Arsenal dressing room.

Xhaka had a strained relationship with the Arsenal faithful following a well-documented on-field strop that saw him taunt fans and throw his shirt on the ground, but improved performances this season have begun to turn things around.

And fans have taken to Twitter to hail their player's show of leadership, with one supporter writing: 'Look at Xhaka man, mans is fuelled by the hatred, look at him flourishing.'

A second added: 'I love Granit Xhaka's response to scoring the goal. Pull the team together and get them to focus #leadership.'

A third praised the midfielder's display, saying: 'Pure leadership from #Xhaka after that goal!!!'

A fourth Arsenal fan was particularly enamoured with the player, writing: 'Xhaka is acc our leader. I love that guy man.'

And a fifth suggested that Xhaka has finally grown into his leadership role at the club, adding: 'Xhaka showing real captain material after the goal love to see that.'

However he was later culpable for an error that lead to Spurs' equaliser, after he was dispossessed seemingly in a safe area of the pitch.

Tottenham broke at pace and forced a foul in the box for Harry Kane to score from 12 yards, which naturally did not go down quite as well with fans.

One fan was quick to distribute the blame, saying: 'I blame Granit Xhaka for that pen.'

And another added: 'Granit Xhaka tried to pass back into chaos ? I'm sorry but that is the single biggest contributor to that goal.'
