Graham Potter was asked why he used Raheem Sterling and Christen Pulisic as wingbacks against Brighton in the 4-1 defeat.
"The responsibility for those two wasn't to defend against their wing-backs, but I understand that whenever you do something, and it doesn't work, you look a bit of a fool," Potter said in his post-match briefing.
"That is how it is," Potter continued. "I have to accept that, deal with that, do better, and I'll learn. That's the process."
Potter repeated the same formation that imploded against Manchester United. The same thing happened against Brighton as the Blues conceded three times in the first half.
