Manchester United have doubled down on their stance of not losing Diogo Dalot and are 'set to trigger' the one-year extension in his contract, reports The Sun.
Negotiations over a long-term contract are ongoing with his agent but United do not want to risk entering the new year without resolving his future.
Since Dalot's current deal expires next summer, he'd be free to speak to foreign clubs in January. And right now, European bigwigs like Barcelona and AC Milan are both interested in him.
The 23-year-old has effectively displaced Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Erik ten Hag's plans, starting all of United's games this season.
And United fully intend to ensure he stays beyond 2024 - but, of course, negotiating a long-term deal with improved terms will require more time.
