Barcelona are very keen on signing Benoit Badiashile, L'Equipe report. The Catalans, however, have no money to complete the deal now.
So they have asked the Frenchman to stay at Monaco until the end of the season and wait for Barca to sign him next summer.
The 21-year-old would choose Chelsea over Man United, another interested party, but his stance on a move to Camp Nou is unknown.
Monaco are demanding €40m for the centre-back and would ideally see him leave in January. They believe he would cost less in the summer due to his contract expiring in 2023.
