Patrice Motsepe, who is the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles of Nigeria can win the FIFA World Cup.
This statement comes days after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where Argentina emerged champions after hard-earned victory over defending champions France.
“I am absolutely confident because of the talent, God-given skills, and history of Nigerian football. Nigeria is one of those countries that have the potential not just to go to the semi-final, not just to go to the final, but to win the World Cup.''
In the history of the World Cup, no African nation has ever won the title, although Morocco made the continent proud this year by reaching the semi-final.
Morocco defeated Portugal in the quarter-final of the 2022 World Cup, before they lost 2-0 to France in the semi-final.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria did not qualify for the 2022 World Cup, after losing the play-offs against Ghana - much to the anger of many local fans after the second game in Abuja.
