Ancelotti insists La Liga title race not over despite Madrid suffering 3rd defeat of the season

Real Madrid suffered their third defeat of the league season against Mallorca and now risk going 8 points behind Barcelona should the Catalans beat Sevilla at home late on Sunday.

With Barca barely dropping points this season, Carlo Ancelotti was asked whether Madrid were out of the title race following the defeat at San Moix.

"The most important thing right now is to go game by game. We now have the Club World Cup ahead of us, we need to win it, and after that, we will return to the league and fight for it until the end. It is not over yet, there are many games left," the Blanco coach said.

Ancelotti is right about many games being left, Madrid still have 18 league matches ahead of them. However, the Merengues no longer depend on themselves, even a win in El Clasico at camp NOu won't be enough for them to overtake Barca.

Here's what the top 5 currently looks like
