Chelsea contract talks with Mount in standstill due to new policy - explained
Chelsea have made very little progress in their quest to convince Mason Mount to sign a new contract, claims the Evening Standard
Todd Boehly is personally handling this contract negotiation, but there has been little movement in talks.
Mount wants a salary increase to sign a seven-year contract with the Blues. He wants wages closer to that his England national teammates receive at their clubs.
Chelsea, however, are yet to offer those terms and are pointing the positives of a long-term contract that their January signings penned.
The Blues’ eight winter signings have an average weekly salary of £70,000 and the club wish to give Mount something similar to that.
That is why contract talks remain halted and uncertainty grows over the future of the English midfielder at Stamford Bridge.
