Erik ten Hag hands Man United six-man transfer shortlist, with several players told they can leave

Erik ten Hag has reportedly handed Manchester United a six-man transfer shortlist, with the Dutchman open to offers for several players from the current squad.

On Sunday, Ten Hag got his hands on his first trophy as United boss after his side beat Newcastle United 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final, thanks to goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford.

Various reports have now stated that Ten Hag is targeting six players to improve his squad in the summer transfer window.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the former Ajax manager wants United to go after Frenkie de Jong again after failing to secure a deal last summer.

The Old Trafford club initially had a transfer fee of £56.2 million agreed with the Catalan club but the 25-year-old simply refused to move.

Aside from De Jong, Ten Hag is reportedly a huge fan of Borussia Dortmund superstar Jude Bellingham.

Many clubs are believed to be lining up to lure Bellingham away from Germany.

The report also claims that Ten Hag will be looking to sign a striker in the summer, with Wout Weghorst’s loan deal set to expire.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen are believed to be on the shortlist. Whilst the club are also interested in Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos and Mohammed Kudus, who played under Ten Hag at Ajax.

In terms of outgoings, it has been reported that United are open to offers for Anthony Martial, Alex Telles and club captain Harry Maguire.

After Sunday’s Carabao Cup victory, Ten Hag wrote an open letter to the fans, it said: “Believe me, this squad knows exactly how important you are. The bond between the supporters and the team is there for everyone to see and what we experienced together yesterday will only further strengthen that bond.

“The atmosphere generated by those of you at Wembley was incredible. From the first minute until the last you were there with us, driving the team on, supporting and encouraging them to get over the line to bring the trophy back to Manchester.”
